Description:
The Norman Esch Engineering Innovation and Entrepreneurship Awards provides financial awards to change-makers enrolled in the Faculty of Engineering and Architectural Science. The Norman Esch Awards is broken up into 3 financial awards to represent the 3 stages of an idea or startup.
The award categories are as follows:
1. Stage 1 – Interaction Award;
2. Stage 2 – Development Award;
3. Stage 3 – Market Readiness Award.
Comments on Funding:
The financial awards are as follows:
- Stage 1 – Interaction Award: $5,000;
- Stage 2 – Development Award: $8,000;
- Stage 3 – Market Readiness Award: $25,000.
In addition to their financial award, all Norman Esch Award winners will receive support from the Innovation Boost Zone (IBZ) – an early-stage technology incubator at Toronto Metropolitan University.
Through IBZ, Norman Esch Award winners will get free access to the support, resources and tools they need to explore the potential of their idea in the startup ecosystem.
Eligibility:
The applicant must/can:
Past recipients of the Norman Esch Awards may not apply to win the same award stage (Stage 1, Stage 2, or Stage 3) twice, even if the application submitted is for a different idea.
Undergraduate students in their first semester cannot apply.
Applications Steps:
Applicants must only apply to the stage that is most applicable to the current state of their startup or project.
Documentation Needed:
Applicants must upload their unofficial Toronto Metropolitan University Transcript in order to prove that they are a TMU FEAS student.
Other Things to Note:
Applications are closed, the next intake will open in January 2023.
