Foundation Assisting Canadian Talent on Recordings Mandate
The Foundation Assisting Canadian Talent on Recordings (FACTOR) is a public/private partnership that supports the production of sound recordings by Canadian musicians and helps Canadian music companies make recordings available to a wider public. FACTOR is dedicated to providing assistance toward the growth, development, and strengthening of the Canadian music industry.
FACTOR adjudicates the distribution of funds from the Department of Canadian Heritage through the Canada Music Fund and from Canada’s private radio broadcasters. FACTOR has been managing federal funds since the inception of the Sound Recording Development Program in 1986 (now known as the Canada Music Fund).

- Industry events (subsidy)
- Showcase Production for Artists from Official Language Minority Communities (grant)
- Showcase production for export-ready artists (grant)
- Sound Recording component – contribution towards the cost
- Marketing component – contribution towards the cost
- Radio Marketing component – contribution towards the cost
- Video component – contribution towards the cost
- Tour Support component – contribution, subsidy
- Showcase component – contribution, subsidy
- Sound Recording component – contribution towards the cost (this will be approved first before applying to other components)
- Marketing component – contribution towards the cost
- Radio Marketing component – contribution towards the cost
- Video component – contribution towards the cost
- Tour Support component – contribution, subsidy

- Marketing – grant (will cover either 50% or 75% of the total eligible budget)
- Tour and Showcase components – Subsidy (up to 75% of the eligible costs in your budget)
- Video – contribution towards the cost (up to 75% of the total eligible budget)
- Radio Marketing – reimbursement (100% of total eligible budget)
- Business Development – grant
- Business Travel – grant
- Songwriter Support for Music Publishers – grant
