Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) – Mandatory Isolation Support for Temporary Foreign Workers Program (2022)

Description:

The Mandatory Isolation Support for Temporary Foreign Workers Program aims to offset some of the costs associated with the mandatory isolation period by providing a maximum non-repayable contribution amount of $1,500 for each temporary foreign worker.

The “mandatory 14 day isolation period” in the context of MISTFWP refers to the 14 day quarantine period imposed on persons arriving to Canada from abroad under the Quarantine Act.

Comments on Funding:

Funding is up to $1,500 for each temporary foreign worker and will take the form of non-repayable contribution.

Eligibility:

Academic institutions must:

  • be Canadian employers in the farming, fish harvesting, and food production and processing sectors;
  • comply with the mandatory 14-day isolation protocols, any other public health order and the regulations of the Temporary Foreign Workers Program and/or the International Mobility Program for the duration of the 14-day isolation period;
  • comply with regulations concerning wages and other employment conditions of the program or stream they hired their temporary foreign workers through (for example, Seasonal Agricultural Worker Program, Temporary Foreign Worker Program) during the mandatory 14-day isolation.
