The Creating, Knowing and Sharing program provides grants to support activities in three broad areas:
- Creating provides support for research, production and creation of new works of art.
- Knowing provides support for the retention, maintenance, innovation and transmittal of cultural knowledge and creative practice.
- Sharing provides support for the dissemination, exhibition, presentation and distribution of works of art by First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples, which enrich and engage communities in Canada and abroad.
Comments on Funding:
Funding is a grant of up to:
- 60% of total annual revenues, averaged over the last 3 years for organizations that meet Category A criteria;
- 60% of total annual revenues, averaged over the last 3 years for organizations that meet Category B criteria;
- $100,000 per year for organizations that meet Category C criteria; and
- $100,000 per year for organizations that meet Category D criteria.
Application Assistance funding is available for persons who are Deaf or who have disabilities, including those living with mental illness, and require accommodation at any stage of the application process.

Applicant must submit:
- support material including samples of recent activities or programming;
- letters of support demonstrating community involvement, if applicable;
- detailed job descriptions of key creative/administrative positions;
- a translation of their application into French or English (must be submitted by the Translation deadline date) unless they request that the Canada Council provides their translation;
- for book publishers:
a) a representative sample of up to 5 books published during the last 2 years;
b) a list of upcoming titles, writers and genres; and
c) a sample contract with writers. - for magazine publishers:
a) for print magazines – 7 copies of 4 different magazine issues published during the last 2 years;
b) for electronic magazines – 4 magazine issues published during the last 2 years, by weblink (hyperlink) or PDF;
c) a list of upcoming themes and writers, if known;
d) a fee schedule for writers; and
e) a sample contract with writers.
Other Things to Note:
- PEFIP is a 10 year program (beginning 2021-2022) providing almost $647 million to help supply-managed poultry and egg producers adapt to market changes resulting from the implementation of the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).
- Applicants have the flexibility to seek funding for eligible activities that started on or after March 19, 2019. The project activities must be completed by March 31, 2031.
- Project Applications must be received before March 31, 2030, which is the end of the 9th year of the program. To help ensure that program funding is fully utilized, PEFIP may re-allocate (in consultation with the national marketing organizations) any unused funding in the program’s 10th and final year in 2031.
