Canada Council for the Arts – Short-Term Projects Component of Creating, Knowing and Sharing: The Arts and Cultures of First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples

Description:

The Short-Term Projects component of Creating, Knowing and Sharing provides support to First Nations, Inuit and Métis professional and aspiring artists, cultural carriers, arts/cultural professionals, groups, collectives and arts/culture organizations for any combination of eligible Creating, Knowing and Sharing activities for projects lasting up to 12 months.

Comments on Funding:

Funding is up to $100,000.

Eligibility:

Applicants must be:

  • First Nations, Inuit and Métis;
  • professional artists, aspiring artists working under the mentorship of a professional artist, arts/cultural professionals, cultural carriers, groups;
  • for-profit organizations that have been in operation for at least 2 years;
  • not-for-profit organizations. Grants cannot overlap with another Short-Term Project grant and cannot duplicate activities supported by any other Canada Council grant.

Applications Steps:

Documentation Needed:

Applicants must provide:

  1. information about their artistic and/or cultural practice, their activities and their budget,
  2. a sample of their previous work,
  3. a letter of invitation, confirmation or agreement from participant(s), host, organization or venue, if applicable,
  4. a letter/email of agreement from their mentor and their mentor’s current biography (for aspiring artists only).

Other Things to Note:

Application limits – each year (1 March – 28/29 February), one can apply to this component twice and receive a maximum of $3,000.
