Digital Technology Supercluster – Capacity Building Program
Description:
The Capacity Building program aims to partner with employers, educators, learning and development technology companies and community organizations to build job ready, world-class talent and teams. We co-invest in projects that help Canadians develop the skills, leadership and opportunities needed to grow innovative digital enterprises.
Comments on Funding:
Funding is up to 50% of total eligible project costs to a maximum amount specified in a Master Project Agreement.
Under the Capacity Building program, they co-invest in two types of projects:
- Exploratory projects: $50K – $500K per project, up to one (1) year duration.
- Strategic initiatives: $2 – $4M per project, up to three (3) year duration.
Total Canadian government assistance for all projects, including federal, provincial/ territorial and municipal, must not exceed 100% of Eligible Costs.

Membership is open to any organization that is based in Canada (either headquartered or have a Canadian subsidiary). As an industry-led initiative, most of their membership is comprised of private sector organizations, focused on building a world-class R&D operation and intent on continuing to invest in product and technology develop programs as they grow. Post-secondary institutions, government agencies and non-profit organizations may become members but are not eligible to receive co-investment funding.
Applications Steps:
The most promising EOIs will be explored with the proponent to determine if the idea can be developed into a full proposal. Only a limited number of EOIs will be invited to submit a full proposal.
Other Things to Note:
There will be a continuous intake of project ideas. There is no specific due date for submissions.
