Enbridge Gas – New Construction: Savings by Design Commercial & Multi-Residential

Description:

The Savings by Design Commercial and Multi-Residential program gives project team free access to industry experts, technical tools and financial incentives to help build high-performance, resilient and sustainable buildings. The program has three components: Integrated Design Process (IDP), Energy Performance, and Commissioning.

Comments on Funding:

Earn incentives that reward eligible applicants for building 20% above code:

  • $15,000 for as-designed energy performance incentive:
    Earn incentives when applicants complete a pre-construction certified energy model that shows their building will be 20% above current code.
  • $15,000 for as-built energy performance incentive:
    Earn additional incentives by confirming their building is 20% above code with a post-construction certified energy model, performed by a professional modeller.

Eligibility:

The applicant must:

  • have the following eligible projects:
    a) commercial, institutional or multi-residential project;
    b) at the design phase or earlier;
    c) 50,000 sq. ft. or greater, located in the Enbridge Gas service area.
  • ensure that the project includes natural gas as one of the primary fuel sources in the final design;
  • successfully complete all three components of the Program, including designing and constructing a commercial property in Enbridge Gas Inc. service area which achieves:
    a) an energy performance that exceeds the OBC’s energy performance requirements by at least 20 percent; or
    b) If the project address is located in the City of Toronto, the project will be required to achieve an energy performance target that exceeds the OBC’s energy performance requirements by at least 35 percent.
