Description:

The Economic Development Stream of the Francophone Community Grants Program (FCGP) is an application-based grant program open to registered or incorporated businesses, to support projects seeking to: strengthen the capacity of organizations to serve French-speaking markets, and promote the identification and recruitment of Francophone bilingual workers.

Eligibility:

The applicant must:

  • Be a for-profit organization,
  • Have a minimum of 3 employees, 
  • Be federally or provincially registered or incorporated (e.g., sole-proprietorship, general partnership, corporation),
  • Operate in Ontario for at least two (2) years at the time of submitting the application,
  • Be in substantial compliance with all applicable laws and be free of any fees, levies or taxes owed to Her Majesty the Queen in right of Ontario or her agencies.
  • Meet one of the following key criteria:
  • Operate in a francophone community – that is, a Census Subdivision in which at least 15% of the population is Francophone according to the Ministry’s Inclusive Definition of Francophone (refer to Francophone Population of Ontario by Census Subdivision table linked below),
  • Deliver products and/or services to a francophone market in Ontario,
  • Present a realistic business expansion plan supported by market data to start operating in or providing products/services to a francophone market in Ontario, or
  • Partner with a regional, national or international organization to bring products and services to Ontario with an aim to increase their offering to the French-speaking market

Applications Steps:

Documentation Needed:

The applicant must submit:

  • The application form for the Economic Development Stream,
  • Proofs of registration (Business License) and of incorporation (Articles of incorporation, Letters patent or Special acts of incorporation), if applicable,
  • Previous year’s financial statements (independently reviewed or audited) OR Statements of Business or Professional Activities (T2125 Form) OR Statements of Partnership Income (Form T5013) for the last two fiscal years,
  • Notices of Assessment issued by the CRA for the last two fiscal years,
  • Payroll Ledger for the previous quarter,
  • Proof of insurance (valid Certificate of Insurance or Insurance Quote for the duration of the project),
  • Letter(s) of support confirming all cash contributions from partners to the project.

Other Things to Note:

Program no longer active at the beginning of 2021.
