MNO’s Métis Self-Employment Program offers participants the skills and support necessary to develop a business plan, start a small business, and sustain their business activities. The Program also provides funds and support to assist clients with mentorship, coaching, and ongoing technical advice.

Eligibility:

Applicants must be:

  • unemployed Metis individuals;
  • under-employed Metis individuals;
  • whose employment is at risk due to labour market changes, insufficient employment skills, or certification.
  • Support is available for new businesses and existing businesses that are struggling to remain viable.
  • For existing businesses support and training can be provided to help to ensure the viability of the business by helping with marketing, technology, and training costs.
  • Businesses can be sole proprietorship or partnerships. In the case of a partnership the applicant must own at least 50% of the business and should be able to make a minimum 25% investment in the business in either cash or equity.
