Type of Program:



Under the Northern Innovation Program — Pilot Demonstration & Commercialization Projects, NOHFC provides funding to Northern Ontario businesses for reducing the technical and financial risks associated with scaling up and demonstrating their new and innovative technologies and to support them as they ramp up for commercial production. Projects must involve research and development or commercialization activities for new technologies in existing and emerging priority economic sectors.

Comments on Funding:

Funding is limited to 50% of eligible costs to a maximum of $500,000.
Senior Government funding not to exceed 50% of eligible project costs.

The applicant must:

  • Be a private company alone or in partnership with an Ontario academic or research institution
  • Be located in Northern Ontario
  • Own or have the rights to exploit the intellectual property associated with the technology.

Create an online account using the form on the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC) website


Follow the onscreen instructions to complete each section of your application


Click "Submit application".

NOHFC will contact the applicant in 2 to 4 weeks!
