Description:

The Northern Ontario Recovery Program is designed to help businesses adapt operations according to local public health guidelines, while protecting employees and customers.

Comments on Funding:

Funding will be in the form of a conditional contribution and will normally not exceed $25,000.
NOHFC will cover 100% of eligible project costs.
Applicants must demonstrate that the amount requested from NOHFC is incremental and does not duplicate other supports received.

Eligibility:

Applicant must:

  • be Northern Ontario businesses with at least one year of operations as of March 17, 2020;
  • have been impacted by the Province of Ontario Emergency Order that closed all non-essential businesses on March 24, 2020;
  • have experienced a loss of revenue or increase in expenses as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak;
  • together with their related parties, be in good standing with NOHFC.

Eligible project costs include but are not limited to: 

  • capital construction;
  • leasehold improvements;
  • new or used equipment;
  • restructuring of business operations;
  • marketing for new business initiatives;
  • personal Protective Equipment and customer/employee safety installations;
  • other costs deemed necessary to complete the project at the discretion of the NOHFC.

Applications Steps:

create an online account using the form on the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC) website,

follow the onscreen instructions to complete each section of the application,

click "Submit application".

NOHFC will contact the applicant in 2 to 4 weeks!

Documentation Needed:

Applicants must submit:

  1. 1
    evidence to support a loss of revenue or increase in expenses are directly attributed to the Province of Ontario Emergency Order related to the COVID - 19 pandemic;
  2. 2
     their financial history for the previous year of operation such as an income statement or income tax return;
  3. 3
    Documents showing the establishment or creation of the business:
  • for corporations, articles of incorporation or letters patent;
  • for sole proprietors, two pieces of valid identification (e.g. birth certificate, passport);
  • for partnerships, partnership registration together with copies of the following: articles of incorporation or letters patent for each corporate partner and two pieces of valid identification (e.g. birth certificate, passport) for each individual partner (i.e. person).
