Rise's Peer Supported Training provides aspiring entrepreneurs with educational, business advisory, and mentorship support and the possibility to access a $300 start-up grant. It aims to help entrepreneurs as they develop their business plan, entrepreneurship skills and the confidence to launch and grow their business.

The applicant must:

  • have a practical idea to start or grow your own for-profit small business (any size, full or part-time/seasonal), and be looking to start this within the next 12 months,
  • Self-identify as having experienced mental health and/or addiction challenges
  • Be unable to access traditional bank financing for his small business
  • Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident
  • commit to attend all course sessions and submit all assignments.

    Rise will offer three (3) cohorts from September 2021 to March 2022:
  • September 14 to November 2, 2021 — Tuesdays & Thursdays, 1:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. ET,
  • October 25 to December 15, 2021 — Mondays & Wednesdays, 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. ET, 
  • February 8 to March 31, 2022 —Tuesdays & Thursdays, 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. ET.

    Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis and will close approximately one week before the cohort start date.
