Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) – Process and Systems Upgrades Program – Save On Energy (2022)

Description:

The Process & Systems Upgrades Program provides financial incentives to both distribution and transmission-connected customers for the implementation of energy efficiency and generation projects. Project incentives are available for a variety of energy-saving projects, including installing variable frequency drives on the motors, generating electricity from waste energy recovery or redesigning the entire system and even the engineering feasibility studies.

Comments on Funding:

Funding will be the lower of:

  • 70% of the Eligible Costs of the Project,
  • The product of the electricity savings multiplied by $200/MWh, capped at 120% of the approved amount,
  • The amount that would provide a Project Payback for one year for a Project, and
  •  $10,000,000 per Project.

Eligibility:

Applicants must be:

  • An electricity customer who owns and/or occupies the facility that is connected, either directly or indirectly, to the IESO-controlled grid or a distribution system,
  • A person who will install and operate a project at the facility on behalf of the owner/operator of the facility who is connected, either directly or indirectly, to the IESO-controlled grid or a distribution system (a “Third Party Participant”).

Documentation Needed:

Applicants must complete and submit:

  • The application form with release, waiver and consent (one for the engineering feasibility study and one for process and systems upgrades, if both applicable),
  • Project terms and conditions (one for the engineering feasibility study and one for process and systems upgrades, if both applicable).

Other Things to Note:

Program no longer active at the beginning of 2021.
