TAF provides grants to charities, not-for-profit organizations, and municipalities in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA) for projects that have the potential to significantly reduce carbon emissions an air pollution in the region.
TAF grants focus on the two biggest sectors for carbon emissions: the building sector and the transportation sector and cover a wide range of activities, from technology demonstration to collective impact and policy advancement.

Comments on Funding:

Grants can be used to fund all project-related costs, including project evaluation and third-party advisory services. Funding can also be used to offset operating costs and a portion of administrative costs directly linked to a TAF-funded project.

Applicants must:

  • Be charities
  • Be not-for-profit organizations
  • Be municipalities
  • Be located in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA)
  • Demonstrate the project’s potential to reduce carbon emissions in the GTHA and/or air pollution in Toronto.

fill out an expression of interest and submit it before the deadline;


fill out the appropriate application form and submit it to before the grant intake deadline.

Documentation Needed:

Applicants must submit:

  • An application form
  • A completed budget spreadsheet
  • Evidence of legal status as a registered charity or not-for-profit organization
  • The most recent financial statements (audited where possible)
  • The names and affiliations of Board directors. 
    Additional materials to support their grant proposal, upon request. These could include references, confirmation of other sources of funding, CVs/LinkedIn profiles of project team members, etc.

Other Things to Note:

Please note that due to a temporary capacity issue, TAF’s grants program is currently on pause. They are not accepting new grant applications or considering new funding inquiries at this time. If your project idea aligns with TAF's funding priorities, please provide your details and TAF will notify you when their program has resumed.
