The Forge, McMaster University – The Forge Business Incubator


The Forge Business Incubator, an 8-month incubation program funded by McMaster University, is serving novel and scalable startups in the Hamilton, Greater Toronto, and Niagara Regions. Launched in 2015, The Forge works hands-on with entrepreneurs to develop their business ideas from ideation and validation to growth. The Forge is sector agnostic and offers cohort-based programming.

Comments on Funding:

Financial reimbursement program is available.


Applicants must:

  • be early-stage startups;
  • be past the business idea stage and must have started gaining traction by launching their startup to the market or have developed a prototype. 

Full-time founders based in Hamilton are preferred but all applicants are welcome. Alumni of this program include software, hardware, IoT, medical devices, healthcare IT, life sciences, advanced manufacturing, and consumer products companies. 

Applications Steps:

Based on the results of the interview process, The Forge will select 5 companies to join the new cohort.

Documentation Needed:

Applicants must submit their application including a pitch deck as a PDF.  

Other Things to Note:

  1. They accept three Business Incubator cohorts numerous times per year.
  2. 2023 Winter Cohort will begin on January 9, 2023.
