Northwestern Ontario Innovation Centre (NOIC) (formerly NWOIC) – Kenora and Rainy River District Business Accelerator Fund

Description:

Kenora and Rainy River District Business Accelerator Fund invests $5,000 into new and existing manufacturing or technology-focused businesses and provides them hands-on support, access to mentors, and potential access to investors. This fund is offered in two streams:
1. Business Start-up Stream; and
2. Business Expansion Stream.

Comments on Funding:

Funding is an investment of:

  • up to $5,000 for Business Start-up Stream;
  • up to $5,000 for Business Expansion Stream.

Each stream will cover 50% of eligible costs up to $5,000.00 in assistance towards approved projects in the following categories:

  • equipment and inventory purchases;
  • obtaining professional services (accounting, legal, web development, graphic design services, marketing, branding, training, photography, etc.);
  • software and hardware purchases.

This funding program does not support these business expenses: wages, rent, operating expenses, and retroactive expenses.

Eligibility:

Applicants must:

  • be located in the Kenora or Rainy River Districts;
  • be manufacturing or technology-focused businesses (food manufactures are eligible);
  • be owned by an Ontario resident and Canadian Citizen;
  • be sole proprietorships or corporations where the applicant is the majority shareholder;
  • operate full-time (minimum 35 hours/week);
  • follow government rules and regulations for operating a business;

New business start-ups are eligible.
