FedDev Ontario – Community Economic Development and Diversification – Businesses, including Indigenous-owned businesses (2022)

Description:

The Community Economic Development and Diversification Stream aims to develop, diversify and transform rural Southern Ontario economies by promoting small business development, community innovation and strategic collaborations.

Comments on Funding:

Funding is up to 50% of eligible and supported project costs and ranges from $250,000 to $5,000,000 per project.

Total government funding for incorporated businesses is up to 75% of eligible non-capital costs and 50% of eligible capital costs and up to 100 % for indigenous-owned businesses.

Eligibility:

Applicants must be:

  • Legally incorporated businesses, including Indigenous-owned businesses
  • Located in southern Ontario.

Documentation Needed:

Applicants must demonstrate:

  • Evidence of project funding
  • Market/industry demand (e.g., how the project addresses a significant gap in the market; global opportunity to be seized within Canada; and evidence that southern Ontario is uniquely positioned to capture market share)
  • A viable project plan with achievable outcomes, supported by verifiable cost estimates.
