MVDF Financing Solutions (2022)

Description:

MVDF provides start-ups and established businesses flexible and adaptable financing, at lower interest rates and with fewer restrictions than commercial lenders, to help Ontario Métis owned and controlled business grow and develop. MVDF also offers on-going support for developing business plans and accessing professional assistance and on-going training and skills.

Financing is up to $1,500,000.

MVDF offers better rates than commercial lenders.

Eligibility:

Applicants must:

  • Be entrepreneurs residing in Ontario owning Ontario-located businesses
  • Have businesses owned and controlled by Ontario Métis (at least one of the owners is a citizen of the Métis Nation of Ontario or self-identifies as Métis and holds 50% or more of the business)
  • have entrepreneurial skills, an understanding of their market and expertise in their field.

Equity in the form of contributed assets (directly related to the business) may occasionally be considered. MVDF does not recognize personal assets such as a personal vehicle or residential real estate as equity. In the case of an existing business, MVDF can recognize the equity you have built up in your business.

For purposes of our programs, MVDF recognizes Métis who are Citizens of the Métis Nation of Ontario or registered members of other Métis organizations recognized by the Métis National Council including:

  • Manitoba Métis Federation;
  • Métis Nation of Saskatchewan;
  • Métis Nation of Alberta;
  • Métis Nation of British Columbia;
  • Métis Settlements General Council;
  • Métis Nation of the Northwest Territory.

Other Things to Note:

The Métis Voyageur Development Fund (MVDF) is announcing an innovative new financing option for Ontario Métis businesses managing the disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Now available to past and current clients of the MVDF, the Métis Emergency Business Financing (MEBF) program offers a combination of an interest-free loan and a grant to help with operating costs if revenues have been negatively affected by COVID-19.
