Type of Program:



The Startup Visa Program at the Accelerator Centre is intended to help technology entrepreneurs bring their companies to Canada in order to create new jobs, spur economic growth, and compete on a global scale.

The program cost is $3,000 per month with a minimum 12 month commitment to the Startup Visa Program.

The applicant must:

  • Have a qualifying business that meets the following conditions:
  • each applicant holds 10% or more of the voting rights attached to all shares of the corporation outstanding at that time (up to 5 people can apply as owners) AND applicants and the designated organization jointly hold more than 50% of the total voting rights attached to all shares of the corporation outstanding at the time they get a commitment from a designated organization;
  • they provide active and ongoing management of this business from within Canada, an essential part of the operations of the business happens in Canada and this business is incorporated in Canada, at the time they receive their permanent residence.
  • Get a letter of support from a designated organization (a business group that has been approved to invest in or support possible start-ups).
  • Meet the language requirements. Applicants must meet the minimum level of the Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 5 in either English or French in all of these four areas: speaking, reading, listening, and writing.
  • Bring enough money to settle. 

In addition to the Federal requirements, the Accelerator Centre requires Startup Visa applicants must:

  • have ‍a business in another country with $100,000 in revenue in the past two years and show strong growth potential,
  • have established IP or strong proprietary technology or business model,
  • have a committed founding team;
  • have a clear understanding and desire to grow a business in Canada.
  • participate in the Accelerator Centre's programming at a cost of $3,000 CAD + HST monthly per founder over a 12 month minimum commitment

Applications Steps:

Applicant must:


complete and submit the online application form;


take a language test from an approved agency and include the results with their application, or the application won’t be processed;


give proof that they have the money to support themselves and their dependents after they arrive in Canada. They can’t borrow this money from another person. The amount depends on the size of the family and amounts are updated every year.


pay your processing fees and attach a copy of the receipt to their application;


include all the supporting documents.
