Description:
The Net Metering program provides an opportunity for customers to generate their own renewable electricity while sending excess power to the grid for a credit. This can be availed from the electricity retailers.

contact their utility to confirm their eligibility and that the renewable energy system can be connected to their grid, before they will proceed in their investments or making arrangements for a renewable energy system for net metering purposes.
need to apply to their utility to connect the renewable energy system to their grid;
choose to buy their renewable energy system outright, or lease or finance it from a third party, including an electricity retailer:
a) If they are planning to contract with an electricity retailer for the renewable energy system and to buy the electricity generated by the renewable energy system from the electricity retailer, the electricity retailer will ask them to enter into 2 separate agreements – a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) and an Associated Equipment Agreement (AEA).

- Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for the purchase of electricity generated by the renewable energy system; and
- Associated Equipment Agreement (AEA) for the renewable energy system itself.
