Description:

The Net Metering program provides an opportunity for customers to generate their own renewable electricity while sending excess power to the grid for a credit. This can be availed from the electricity retailers.

Comments on Funding:

Applicants must enter into a net metering agreement with their utility to send any excess renewable electricity to their grid in exchange for on-bill credits.

Eligibility:

To be eligible for net metering, applicants must:

  • be residential (homes);
  • be businesses;
  • be generating renewable electricity primarily for their own use;
  • meet the utility’s technical, safety and inspection requirements.

Applicants, in contract with electricity retailers, must provide a signed

  1. Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for the purchase of electricity generated by the renewable energy system; and
  2. Associated Equipment Agreement (AEA) for the renewable energy system itself.
