Ontario Ministry of Energy – Ontario Electricity Rebate (OER)
Description:
The Ontario Electricity Rebate currently provides a 11.7% rebate to eligible residential customers, small businesses, farms and other customers.

Other Things to Note:
- For assistance received before November 1, 2019, 8%. The 8% Provincial Rebate was in place before the OER was introduced on November 1, 2019;
- For assistance received on or after November 1, 2019, 31.8%. O. Reg. 342/19, s. 4 (1);
- On November 1, 2021, the Regulation is amended by striking out “18.9 per cent” wherever it appears and substituting in each case “17 per cent”. (See: O. Reg. 728/21, s. 1);
- Effective July 1, 2022, the eligibility criteria for the OER are expanding to include common elements of predominantly residential multi-unit complexes, retirement residences and mobile home parks.
- On November 1, 2022, section 2 of the Regulation is amended by striking out “17 per cent” and substituting “11.7 per cent”. (See: O. Reg. 501/22, s. 1).
- Eligible customers can avail OER from their local electricity distribution company, including:
