TECHNATION – Career Ready Program

Description:

Career Ready is TECHNATION’s wage subsidy program which supports businesses by financing their decision to hire a student for a work-term placement. This in turn creates a rewarding opportunity for students to apply their learning in real-world settings and puts them on a path to a bright career.

Documentation Needed:

Employer applicants must provide:

  1. a student to apply with;
  2. a job description;
  3. salary information;
  4. historical information on the number of students that have been employed by applicants’ company or department in recent years;
  5. an approximate number of students their company might or intend to hire over the next fiscal year.

Students will need the following information before starting their application:

  1. proof of enrollment in a Canadian post-secondary institution (unofficial transcript is sufficient);
  2. an updated resume.

Other Things to Note:

  1. This project is funded by the Government of Canada’s Student Work Placement Program.
  2. Net new is determined by subtracting the number of students the company is intending to hire (forecast) in the current fiscal year, including those already hired, from the number of students hired by applicant’s company in a fiscal year prior to first participating in this program (baseline). For example, if the company hired 3 students in the fiscal year (April 1 to March 31) prior to applying for funding, 3 is their baseline. Then, the company must intend to hire at least 4 students in their forecast of hires within that fiscal year to qualify for 1 subsidy to support the increase.
