Description:

The Internship Program, generously funded through Environment and Climate Change’s Science Horizons Program, is a wage subsidy initiative to help recent graduates acquire work experience in Canada's environmental sector.

To help employers anywhere in Canada hire the talent they need and help increase the supply of highly qualified professionals in the environmental sector, Clean Foundation will contribute 50% of each interns salary, up to a maximum of $15,000. The ideal end goal of the program is for the intern to be hired on full-time or decide to return to academia to further their studies.

Eligibility:

Employer must be

  • Individuals;
  • For-profit organizations (small- or medium-sized enterprises, corporations, or industry associations);
  • Provincial and territorial, municipal and local governments including institutions, agencies and Crown Corporations;
  • Post-secondary institutions;
  • Organizations, including but not limited to non-government organizations, including non-profit organizations, Aboriginal organizations, including band councils/tribal councils and local organizations;
  • be creating a position with an environmental focus for an individual who does not currently work at their organization;
  • be able to provide an internship of at least 6 months;
  • be able to supervise and mentor an intern utilizing a formal training plan;
  • be able to contribute at least 50% of the total cost of each internship;
  • be located anywhere in Canada.

Interns must:

  • be ready to transition into a full-time role within the Clean Economy or considering returning to school to further their education;
  • have graduated from a post-secondary program;
  • be no more than 30 years of age at the start of the internship;
  • be Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person granted refugee status in Canada;
  • be available to work for at least 6 months;
  • not be receiving employment insurance during internship;
  • not currently be working for hiring organization.

They are no longer recruiting employers for the 2021/2022. To join the waitlist for the 2021/2022 season, please complete an application and Clean Foundation will be in touch when funding is available.
