Description:
The program Canadian Agricultural Strategic Priorities Program will help the agriculture, agri-food, and agri-based products sector (‘agricultural sector’) take advantage of a situation or circumstance to develop a new idea, product, niche, or market opportunity
respond to new and emerging issues (address sector issues that were unknown or not a concern before)
find and test solutions to new and ongoing issues to adapt and remain competitive
Comments on Funding:
The maximum Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) contribution for a project will normally not exceed $1 million. You can apply for and receive funding for more than one project, but generally speaking, funding will not be more than $5 million over 5 years for each applicant.
If approved, support is available in the form of repayable and non-repayable contributions.
Contributions toward eligible costs will normally be shared between AAFC and you as follows:
AAFC — a maximum of 50%
You — a minimum of 50%
AAFC may contribute up to 75% of total project costs where it deems that a project is a high priority for a sector or addresses a public safety concern of Canadians and clearly demonstrates the benefits to Canadians through significant levels of support (public and private interests). In exceptional cases, AAFC may contribute greater than 75%.
Your portion of the cost-share must be cash contributions.Endnote1 In-kind contributions are ineligible.

Eligibility:
Applicants must be:
1. one of the following organization types
a. Not-for-profit organizations incorporated in Canada, such as:
i. Associations
ii. Cooperatives
iii. Marketing boards
iv. Other
b. Indigenous peoples (First Nation, Métis, Inuit)
c. Provincial, territorial or municipal government
d. for-profit organizations are normally not eligible but may be considered for funding in situations where the benefit will be accrued through the entire sector or significant benefits can be accrued to public safety and/or the public good.
2. must demonstrate the ability to deliver a Canadian and/or agriculture and agri-food sector-wide project that:
a. involves or is supported by groups or individuals that represent the targeted agriculture and agri-food sector (Canadian or sector-wide)
b. benefits the stakeholders of the targeted agriculture and agri-food sector, and both public and private participants in the entire sector
3. must identify a challenge that faces the Canadian agriculture, agri-food and agri-products sector, and demonstrate how the project results will benefit the sector and how the project aligns with 1 or more of the following 4 priority areas:
a. Adaptation to new technology
b. Environmental sustainability
c. Strategic planning and capacity building
d. Emerging issues
4. You’re a legal entity capable of entering into a legally binding agreement

1. Complete and submit the pre-screening application
2. Complete and submit the program application
Documentation Needed:
Applicants must submit:
1. Detailed Project Budget
2. Organization’s Certificate or Articles of Incorporation
3. Financial Statements:
a. Audited, accountant-reviewed, or notice-to-reader financial statements for the past 2 years, or since the date of business start-up if the business is less than 2 years old
b. The latest interim (audited or unaudited) financial statements
c. If applicable: The most recent annual report or audited financial statements of the parent company or principal owner
4. If applicable: Letters of Financial Support from all organizations providing a cash contribution to the project as per the Budget
5. Project Endorsement Letters/Letters of Support
6. If applicable: Capital Asset Pre-approval
