Clean Fuels Fund: Building new domestic production capacity

Description:

Funding the build-out of new production capacity will:
grow the domestic production capacity for clean fuels including clean hydrogen, advanced biofuels, renewable natural gas, and sustainable aviation fuel, across Canada
offer new opportunities for Canada’s energy sector in the transition to producing cleaner sources of energy
support Canada’s efforts to reach net-zero by 2050
position Canada globally to reap economic, environmental, and social benefits of the energy transition

Comments on Funding:

The program may provide a successful applicant up to a maximum of 30% of total eligible project costs, up to a maximum of $150 million, per project.

Eligibility:

Applicants must:

1. Be legal entities validly incorporated or registered in Canada including not-for-profit and for-profit organizations such as:
a. Electricity or gas utilities;
b. Private sector proponents;
c. Industry associations;
d. Research associations;
e. Standards organizations;
f. Indigenous and community groups;
g. Canadian academic institutions;
h. Provincial, territorial, regional or municipal governments or their departments or agencies where applicable; and,
i. International companies with a Canadian presence
2. All projects supported under this program must be undertaken in Canada.

Application Steps:

Proponents can access the application form from the Clean Fuels Program website. Applications must be submitted through Integro, a web-based platform designed to make applying easier. Instructions on how to register are available in the Applicant’s Guide.

Documentation Needed:

Applicants must submit:

1. Financial Statements: The following information should be included:
a. For a business incorporated for three or more years: last three years of Audited or Reviewed Financial Statements.
b. For a business incorporated for less than three years: any available Audited or Reviewed Financial Statements including interim statements
c. If no interim statements are available: statements certified by the Chief Financial Officer
For all applicants, if the Audited or Reviewed Financial Statements are more than six months old, please submit the most recent interim financial statements (e.g. 90-day balance sheet).

Other Things to Note:

Call for proposals for intake one closed October 13, 2021. A call for proposals for intake 2 is launching in early 2025.
