Description:

The program supports the operation of professional organizations in the French-language publishing sector in Ontario to help them produce or present quality works to a wide range of audiences and participants.

The program supports:
The publication and distribution of French-language titles in the following genres: novel, tale, short story, poetry, theatre, children’s literature, literary criticism or history, commentary on the visual arts or performing arts, biography.
The publication of French-language cultural periodicals dedicated to creation, analysis or review in the following sectors: literature, performing arts, visual arts, multidisciplinary arts, cultural life.

Eligibility:

Applicants must:

1. Be book and periodical publishers whose head office is in Ontario.
2. Be a not-for-profit corporations incorporated in Ontario or national not-for-profit corporations with their head office in or an Ontario-based company.
3. Have income of at least $75,000 in the last financial year as well as forecasts of the same order for the current financial year and the financial year of the application (for candidates who are not yet subsidized by this program)
4. Have at least two years of sustained, regular and continuous programming as of the date of application. If your organization does not meet this criterion, you may consider submitting a project grant application.
5. Have a variety of income sources.
6. Have a functioning board of directors or governing body.
7. Have produced and presented at least one professional production per year for the past two years and plan to present at least one professional production during the year of application.

Application Steps:

Applicants must Complete and submit an application in Nova, OAC’s online grant application system.

Documentation Needed:

Applicants must submit:

1. answers to the questions asked in the annual or multi-year application form.
2. Supporting documents (only for annual applications or multi-year applications in year 1):
a. For all publishers: financial and statistical data via our Excel forms; financial statements for your organization’s last completed financial year.
b. For all publishers: any document you consider relevant, for example, manuscripts, brochures, press articles and posters (optional, 1 document, PDF format, 20 pages maximum).
c. For book publishers (required):
d. One printed copy of each eligible title published in the last calendar year, excluding reprints.
e. The current catalog or a link to a website where it is located.
3. For periodical publishers (mandatory): journals published during the last calendar year.
