Description:

The International Promotion Program offers financial support for:

Participation and attendance for international festivals, forums and events.
International promotion campaigns.
Telefilm-invited international initiatives.

Comments on Funding:

Funding will take the form of a non-refundable contribution to cover the eligible costs per project: – up to $40,000 for Feature Films;
– up to $4,000 for Short Films;
– up to $25,000 for Television projects;
– up to $5,000 for Extended Reality (XR) projects
Funding is also provided to producers/directors covering the travel expenses for their participation in the applicable event:
– up to $2,000 per individual per event;
– up to $ 4,000 per event to a maximum of three (3) events
In exceptional circumstances and subject to the overall availability of funds, Telefilm may take into consideration financing requests exceeding the cumulative maximum of $40,000 for extraordinary international marketing campaigns. Such campaigns are generally for projects selected at the Oscars, the Golden Globes, the BAFTA or the Césars in the category of “Best Film” or “Best Foreign Film” or at other major international festivals or markets.

Eligibility:

Applicants must be Canadian-owned and controlled companies:
a. Companies specializing in production and distribution
b. Sales agencies of Canadian feature-length or short films (drama or documentary), television series or XR projects
c. Production companies invited to take part in a coproduction forum
d. Companies invited by Telefilm to participate in one of its international initiatives

Canadian short or feature length film, a TV series or an extended reality project (XR) from Canada that is:
a. Selected for a recognized international festival.
b. An eligible coproduction project recognized by the Minister of Canadian Heritage.

Application Steps:

Applicants must submit a completed application form with all the required supporting documents electronically via Dialogue.

Documentation Needed:

Applicants must submit:
1. Official Letter from the Festival (or Event Organizer, as applicable) confirming the eligible project’s selection at the Festival or Event.
2. Official Letter or Email from the Festival indicating if it’s a world or an international premiere for the project
3. Formal Invitation Letter from Telefilm Canada
4. Invitation Letter from the Coproduction Market indicating who is invited
5. Letter from the Production Company confirming that the Applicant is authorized to apply for the
purposes of this Program.
6. URL Link to the Project that is freely accessible and does not have an expiration date to one of the digital platforms on which the project is distributed.
7. Declaration of the Production Company Regarding the Canadian Content of the Project
8. Incorporation Documents
9. Corporate Declaration
10. Detailed Marketing Plan and Budget for the Extraordinary Marketing Campaign
11. Invitation or Confirmation Email from Telefilm Canada to Apply for Extraordinary Marketing Campaign Funding
