Description:

The Marketing Program supports the marketing, promotion and distribution of Canadian feature films.

Eligibility:

Applicants must:
1. be either a distribution company or a production company;
2. carry out its activities in Canada;
3. be a Canadian-controlled corporation, as determined under sections 26 to 28 of the Investment Canada Act with its head office in Canada;
4. be financially stable1; and
5. hold all Canadian distribution rights of the project submitted (including ancillary rights)2.

Additional Eligibility Criteria – Distribution Companies
1. whether the company has been active in theatrical distribution in Canada for a minimum of two years in the last five years, by demonstrating a sufficient volume of business;
2. whether the company has the relevant expertise and has one or more senior executives with five-year experience in the distribution company or a distribution company of comparable size;
3. whether it has demonstrated to Telefilm’s satisfaction a commitment to distributing Canadian feature films;
and
4. whether it possesses the experience and level of expertise necessary to distribute the type of projects for which it seeks to be considered eligible.

Additional Eligibility Criteria – Production Companies
1. operate as a feature film production company;
2. have produced the project submitted to Telefilm for funding; and
3. have adequate promotion and marketing expertise.

Applicants must submit a completed application form with all the required supporting documents electronically via Dialogue.

Documentation Needed:

Applicants must submit:

1. Executed Distribution Agreement and any amendment(s) thereto

2. Letter Containing the Key Terms of Distribution

3. Written Commitment from an Exhibitor to release the project in theatres within six (6) months of the
application date

4. CAVCO Certification Letter or Official Treaty Coproduction Certification

5. Service Agreement with Third-Party Expert in Specialized Market(s), if applicable

6. Detailed Marketing and Distribution Plan

7. TIFF Invitation Letter (if applying with festival release costs)

8. Links to the Film Website, Social Media Sites, Film’s Trailer, etc. (as applicable)

9. Video Link of the Film

10. Detailed Marketing Budget (Canadian and Foreign Costs) including all related party transactions

11. Deal Memos or Contracts from Financial Participants (as applicable)

12. Declaration Relative to Sponsorship Agreements (if any)

13. Visibility Proposal for Telefilm Canada

14. Community Engagement Plan

15. Incorporation Documents

16. Corporate Declaration

17. Corporate Financial Statements for the past three (3) fiscal years
