Description:

The program supports Indigenous (First Nations, Métis, Inuit) artists to research, develop and create new work and engage with their communities, as well as opportunities for Indigenous organizations and communities to strengthen their relationships with the arts.

Eligibility:

Applicants must be:
1. Professional artists and arts professionals (emerging, mid-career, or established) who are First Nations, Inuit, or Métis, and are residents of Ontario
2. Ontario-based ad hoc groups and collectives comprised of a minimum of 50 per cent Indigenous members
a. All members must be professional artists or arts professionals. At least 50 per cent of members must reside in Ontario (or both members in the case of two-person collectives).
3. Indigenous-led Ontario-based not-for-profit Indigenous arts organizations, non-arts organizations, centres and councils
4. Culture Carriers who are First Nations, Inuit, or Métis (see definition below)
5. Indigenous-led professional arts and literary book and magazine publishers with a head office in Ontario, including Indigenous-owned for-profit publishers

Application Steps:

Applicants must complete and submit an application in Nova, OAC’s online grant application system. You will be able to do this approximately two months before the deadline.

Documentation Needed:

Applicants must submit:

1. basic information about the project
2. answers to application questions
3. a project budget
4. artistic examples: up to two audio/video examples (maximum of three minutes each), writing samples, or images (up to 10). These videos may help you:
a. Preparing Effective Support Material for Theatre, Dance and Performance-Based Multi and Inter-Arts
b. Preparing Effective Support Material for Visual Arts and Craft Grant Applications
5. support documents (PDF): résumés or bios, letters of support, and letters of confirmation are mandatory for artists’ residencies and mentorship projects
