Description:

The program supports visual arts and crafts practices through grants to artists, curators, ad hoc groups, collectives and Francophone organizations in Ontario.

Eligibility:

Applicants must be:

For Creation Categories:
1. Professional visual and craft artists who reside in Ontario.
a. Individual artists representing a group of artists – If you are creating a work in collaboration with one or more other artists (including a mentor), one of the artists must apply on behalf of the group. If the grant is awarded, the artist in question will receive a T4A slip and will assume responsibility for the grant on behalf of the collaborators. You may attach a group history or a CV for each artist. In the artistic statement, describe the nature of the collaboration and attach supporting documentation from previous collective works.

2. For Curatorial Project Category:
a. Professional visual arts or crafts curators who reside in Ontario.

3. For Category Exhibitions/Connections:
a. Collectives and ad hoc groups working in the visual arts or crafts sector and of which at least 50% of members reside in Ontario.
b. Incorporated non-profit organizations that have a head office in Ontario.

Application Steps:

Applicants must complete and submit an application in Nova, OAC’s online grant application system. You will be able to do this approximately two months before the deadline.

Applicants must submit:

1. basic information about the project
2. answers to the questions asked in the application form
3. the project budget
4. artistic examples:
a. Creation and Curatorial Project categories: images of your artwork or past curatorial projects. Curators may submit sample texts. You may find the following video helpful: Effective Support Materials: Visual Arts and Crafts
b. Exhibitions/Connections Category: Documentation of previous works or programming, images of works by participating artists, programs, catalogs, websites, and sample texts.
5. supporting documents:
a. All categories: candidate background, CVs or biographical notes (required).
b. Curatorial Project Category: Letters of Understanding or Support.
c. Exhibitions/Connections Category: Letters of recommendation or support.
