Description:
The NRC IRAP Youth Employment Program offers financial assistance to offset the cost of hiring young talent (ages 15-30) to work on projects with R&D, engineering, multimedia or market analysis components or to help develop a new product or process.

Continuous Intake
Eligibility:
Applicants must:
1. be a small or medium-sized business (500 or fewer full-time equivalents);
2. be incorporated and for-profit;
3. ready to enhance their innovation capacity and willing to partner with NRC IRAP.
Candidate eligibility:
1. 15 to 30 years of age at the start of the internship;
2. a post-secondary graduate;
3. a Canadian citizen, permanent resident of Canada or person granted refugee status in Canada;
4. legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial legislation and regulations;
5. a first-time participant in a Youth Employment Strategy work experience program targeted at post-secondary graduates.
The youth internship will last a minimum of 6 months and a maximum of 12 months. The candidate must work a minimum of 30 hours per week.
Application Steps:
The applicant must:
1. call the National Research Council Canada at 1-877-994-4727 and discuss to determine the eligibility (topics: business description, objectives, innovation plans),
2. if eligible, next step is to discuss with one of the industrial technology advisors (topics: strategy, issues, opportunities for growth, future plans),
3. develop a project proposal,
4. find a youth candidate.
